Stove #1
This stove runs off of alcohol fuel (over 90% alcohol only) and can be made from only a soda or beer can.
Tools:
Scissors, pocketknife
Instructions:
- With a knife, cut into the top of the can, then cut around the edge until the top can be removed. This works best if the blade of the knife travels just inside the rim of the can.
- Cut into the middle of the can with the scissors, then cut the can roughly in half.
- With the scissors, clean up the bottom half of the can so that the walls are even and about 1.5” tall.
- Clean up the top half of the can in a similar way, but make the wall height just a bit (about 1/16”) shorter than on the bottom half of the can.
- Place two fingers inside the top half of the can from the bottom facing up. With our other hand, press the knife blade between your two fingers from the outside of the can until the metal creases. Move your fingers to one side of the crease and repeat until the can has been completely creased.
- With the point of your knife, poke a very small pinhole in the angled part of the the top of the can, about halfway up.
- Slide the creased top half of the can into the bottom half, fill with a tablespoon or so of alcohol, and light. Place a pot on top, and cook away!
